about

At the end of May 2000, we had decided to stop doing My Oldest Friend.
On December 27th 2000 we decided we wanted to do more My Oldest Friend!

It all started with the song Phoenix, which is the only name we could have used. I'm not sure what order we wrote these songs in, but Goodbye Eric was the last.

There's wet on my box was named after a horrified co-worker saw that someone got his Joy Division box set wet. He screamed "There's wet on my box!"

Simple Lines was named because they are simple lines intertwining.

Co-Dependent was named that because if one of us stopped playing the first section, the other two would screw up. The song starts with a measure on the drums in 7/8, then there are three time signatures playing, and after 30 beats we all come back to the one!

Unnecessary Second G - it's spelled Greg,, not Gregg,

Kid with the Golden Arm - this had a frantic feel like some of the fights in that movie!

Goodbye Eric - my nephew who is Greg's brother Eric passed away the year before. I thought this was a fitting title for the music.

about

My Oldest Friend Minnesota

In 1998 we formed a trio Greg (bass), Brandon (guitar) and David (drums) after listening to King Crimson's "Red" and we were finally on the same page musically.

Brandon passed away in 2008.

These two albums are the 2023 re-recordings of the music the 3 of us made in 1998 while totally lacking girlfriends.

Greg bass & guitar
David - Drums
Brandon - always in spirit.
